Dear Friends of D.U.S.C,
The Dublin University Sailing Club was founded in 1930, and celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2020, making us the oldest student sailing club in Ireland. We have been at the forefront of student sailing in Ireland for the past 93 years.
Our alumni comprises no fewer than 16 Olympians, a fact unrivalled not only by any other student sailing club in Ireland, but also by any other sports club in Trinity College. DUSC competes regularly at inter-varsity events and has enjoyed success at gold, silver and bronze level. In 2023, DUSC took home the coveted gold prize, in one of Trinity’s most respected sporting traditions, the annual Colours Match against University College Dublin.
The success of the past is matched with equal promise for the future, and a steady influx of new sailors have allowed the club to continue to grow each year. However, your support can help us to allow our sailors to develop their talents and compete at the highest levels, in Ireland and internationally. We are at a critical point in our evolution, and we need your help to ensure the future of our club.
In recent years, club membership has swelled with over 400 members. To keep up this membership number and to continue to grow the club, we need to upgrade and expand our equipment. This will enable us to get as many members on the water as often as possible
With your donations, we were successfully able to purchase a new fleet of firefly boats, at the beginning of the 2018/2019 season, these have been a vital resource for the club ever since. This year we have an exciting list of proposed projects including funding for a Keelboat Team.
